Benitez is set to ring the changes at Anfield

Liverpool Transfers

Who’s saying ‘Bye Bye’ and the players Rafa is going to buy buy

After defeat on Wednesday in the Champions League, made this season another trophy less season for the Reds, what must be changed for next season?

Rafa Benitez is reportedly already seeking new players, most notably Aston Villa’s Gareth Barry. The Spaniard plans to save cash by offering want away players such as Peter Crouch and John-Arne Riise in exchange.

Crouch may feel that his Liverpool days are numbered; he has fallen behind Fernando Torres, Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel in the pecking order and subsequently lost his England place.

Benitez is looking to fund a massive influx of players in the summer by selling many of his players that are failing to nail down first team places.

Winger Jermaine Pennant may be on his way, and Rafa has become frustrated with the injury plagued Harry Kewell and the ageing Sami Hyypia On loan keeper Scott Carson will be another player, Benitez will look to sell to acquire funds of his own.

Will Peter Crouch be on his way?

This would pave the way to sign a right and left full backs, a right winger and a centre midfielder. The versatile Barry would cover midfield and left back cover, whilst Borussia Dortmund’s right back Philipp Degen is set to arrive on a free.

Last season Liverpool managed to finish 21 points behind Champions Manchester United, and although this season they have closed the gap currently 10 at present, they’ve finished a place lower.
